At the Chicago Botanic Garden, we saw a lot of buzzin' goin' on! Though I certainly don't relish the thought of being stung by a bee, they are truly one of my favorite insects. I love their happy yellow/black color composition, their flitting industrious nature and their apparent need to hang around beautiful flowers searching for heavenly nectar. They have a queen as their leader. And can make honey as a by-product! Besides, my name literally means a bee (Hebreaw and English).

Hey...how did this hopper get in here? ( At least he is not guilty of stealing my sunglasses-no
absconders located as of this date. Keep up your watchful vigil, please!)
Don't worry...bee happy! is my message for you today.

These are fabulous close-up pictures! And I'm sure such an avid reader as yourself has read "The Secret Life of Bees?"
Yes, Linnea. I have read that book and liked it very much!
And it looks like you have gotten yourself a cool new profile picture!
You take such wonderful pictures! I would love to know how you get such great close ups!
Witty, you are so kind. The camera I use is a Nikon Coolpix
L12. There's a little tulip shape designating macro close-ups which I often select. However, the key is being totally still when pushing the button to snap the picture, plus good lighting from the sun. Because I take gazillions of pictures, some just naturally work...and other's just don't! I'm no pro!
