The SVF Experience in Sweden

Certainly this is a pleasure trip, but it is also a work-related trip for Wes.  First the conference in Karlstad, now the time at SVF with the reason of contact with JIBS - the Jönköping International School of Business. (He works while I play.) However SVF is more than a work-destination...it's where our kids had their study-abroad experience! We visited them here in this beautiful-city-by-the-lake in 2001 and 2005. Lake Vattern is the second largest lake in Sweden and the campus is set upon the hill overlooking the lake. Morning, daytime and evening views from our lodging is breath-taking.

Please join me now for a little campus tour!  First, let's go to the dining center where six - count 'em
six opportunities for eating occur within the day.  A future post will deal with the two (Fm kaffe/Em kaffe) fika times.

There are four dorms.

A main building with the chapel, gathering areas, a library, offices and the dining hall.

What I enjoy so much about Swedish design is the fussy-less, functional nature of the furniture and the use of art work, textiles and colors.  Do note that there are many students bustling around; I took these pictures when it was class time or past class time.  Or maybe they are playing in the gym:

There are other buildings as well, but they are not pictured here. We are residing at the Bergsgarden
which is part of the conference center.  Here's our room - do note the view out our window.

And here's our shared social and dining area.  But the best part of all?  This view!

                                                    Aren't we the lucky ones?

Love, love, love Swedish design: so clean, so spunky. I adore those blue chairs, ditto the red ones.
