Tabled and Flowered.

As mentioned in a previous post, I wanted to get back to the lovely Spring Flower Show now going on in the State Street Macy's in downtown Chicago. But, hurry..the show is over on April 11!
There are actual real flowering trees throughout the first floor as well as blooming spring flowers and vignettes in the various departments. Lovely. Free to look at.
However, it was on the sixth floor that I found the most inspiration. Here in the China and Crystal Departments, beautiful tablescapes are on display. Easter was coming, and I took mental notes of what I could do here at home to make the table inviting for our guests.
From this tablescape: make it real with living greenery. But, make sure that if elbows are on the table, greenery won't prick or stab the guest.
From this tablescape: a chicken or two might be a nice touch. And don't forget the blue and yellow.
From this tablescape: plate on plate with something for the guest.

From this above-the-tablescape: hanging flowers. Hmm - how to do this? I know ---I'll hang a mobile in the window!

Yesterday was Easter and time to put all those inspirations to work for us in setting the table.. This is what I came up with:

What is more important than a pretty table, though, is the people who gather 'round it. And the reason we celebrate in the first place.
Aunt Margene could be with us. Jed is out of the hospital. Plus we had a very own personal living flower baby in our midst!
The sweetest flower ever in her pretty pink smocked dress.
