Let the Swedish Meatball season begin!! Over the weekend, we had two - count 'em two - holiday gatherings where the meatballs and lingonberries reigned supreme. Add in the herring, potatoes, limpa bread and hard tack. Plus salmon, pickled beets, cucumbers and cheeses. Top it off with pepperkakor. What does this mean? It must be December!
(I have to admit that this salmon head kind of creeped me out, but the presentation of it was pretty artfully done. This was served at the pre-dinner for the Rejoice concert on Friday night.)
Yes, these Jul cakes were as good as they looked!
On Saturday, we attended the North Park University Lucia Pageant. Another Smorgasbord followed this program.
And this time we were dining with our children!
Isn't it wonderful to have special foods at certain times of the year to share with others? It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Bring on the Meatballs!

You asked, Melissa, so here they are! More on Facebook, however.
Such a delight to see you at Smorgasbord #1!
Those Jul cakes look delicious! Makes me want to learn how to make them...
Timi, I think you are a baker in disguise! Have you made the Chocolate Balls yet?
I made a Christmas `cookie` version that is new lately. Next I am up for the Chocolate balls because I have all the ingridients for it. Maybe tomorrow??
So tasty-looking! Thanks again for the fantastic food and show for Lucia!
