The Resolution Word

There's always the question of what resolutions should be considered for the start of a new year. Are they written down? Just in the brain for no one else to discover? Do they have anything to do with weight, diet, exercise? Been there...not done that. So, this year, I stumbled upon the blog of Ali Edwards http://aliedwards.typepad.com/ and she does something different: she carefully selects a word to be her inspiration. Check it out! It has inspired me to think hard about one word as my personal goal for 2009.

In my dictionary, this particular word had six different defintions, and the number 6 one suits me best: 6. to enjoy with appreciation; relish. My word: savor.

I want to relish people, places, experiences, events, etc. to the utmost...not taking anything for granted. I want to appreciate my family and friends as much as possible. I want to savor the most out of every day, no matter what is going on behind the scenes. Oh, and I'd also like to savor the morsels entering my mouth, too! This word is also almost a homonym for the word saver, and I like that, too. I'm going to try hard this year to use up what I have been saving throughout the years, especially in the way of my sewing and craft supplies and "repurpose" whenever possible.

Is there a word for you in 2009?

I love Ali's blog too! Hmm...so hard to choose one word but I'd probably say the same thing I've said in years past and that is 'simple' as in living simple, enjoying simple things, making the most of all.
Thanks for sharing your word Deb! Happy New Year!
